Video of the Week

Happy Easter Everyone!

Now I know that Easter isn't about chocolate and Easter bunnies, but when my sister and I were little we liked to watch this video every year.

"Let us turn back the clock to when Brother Bear was the only cub on the block. When the bear's treehouse wasn't nearly so grand and a very strange thing occurred in Bear Land.  No one really knows the cause. A shift perhaps in the natural laws. Some unfortunate bit of cosmic bad luck.  Some how that winter the seasons got stuck."

*Disclaimer: together...these videos are a little less than 30 min.

I love the Berenstain Bears!!  My favorite book was the one about the baby-sitter.

What was your favorite Berenstain bear book or did you have a different favorite book as a kid?

Yours affectionately,
A.H.

Week of Videos - Day 4

I didn't know before yesterday...turns out...I could listen to the cello all day long!  And when you mash it up with a little beat boxing...well...you got me.

Side note: Thanks to Christina for sharing the videos from today and day 1 & 2 with me!

A.H.

Week of Videos - Day 3

Recently I have had a couple conversations about popular musicians and their actual talent compared to what is done with technology in the studio.  Then I saw this video.

Now setting aside what she chose to wear into public...seriously, you are not a gymnast...put on pants...she has an amazing live performance.  Plus...this song is super catchy.  I bought it less than a week ago and I keep relaying it over and over again.

I promise one of these days I will actually write a real post,  but I'm still catching up from two crazy weeks of school.  'Till tomorrow.

Yours affectionately,
A.H.

Week of Videos - Day 1

Ok...spent sometime with some great ladies on Friday and we spent part of that time sharing videos.  Once again, Video of the Week cam around and I couldn't choose!!  So...ladies and gentlemen...2011 2nd Week of Videos.

This video just makes me laugh.  Whoever created it is both brilliant and very creative...in addition to having to much time on their hands.

I don't even know what my favorite part is!  I think it is at 0:46 with Bones and I believe Scotty...forgive me if I'm wrong...I'm just a want to be Trekkie...not the real thing.  But anyways it's all pretty great.

See you tomorrow!

Yours affectionately,
A.H.

Video of the Week

This isn't so much a video as just a song, but...it makes me smile.  I've been craving some change lately and this is the song it made me think of.

Keep in mind, I have no plans to go blonde.  First because I'm pretty sure I couldn't pull it off.  Secondly, because I'm in a wedding this summer and I just feel like the bride wouldn't appreciate it.

Here's hoping your week is less stressful than the one I'm about to have...darn you end of the semester.

Yours affectionately,
A.H.

Adventures in Cooking

I have always been amazed at the way my mom cooks.  She just knows that it needs some random spice and then with a shake of this and a dash of that, the dish she just made up is delicious!  Yeah...that's not the way my brain works.  My mom likes art...I like math.  She likes to make it up as she goes along...I crave a recipe.  Seriously...it amazes me when people cook like that.  It is one reason I prefer baking to cooking, but since man cannot live on bread alone, I must leave the world of flour.

Long story short...I got a recipe off Pioneer Woman.  Her pictures make it look delicious and easy.  I am here to tell you it is not as easy as it looks.  The recipe was for Spicy Dr. Pepper Shredded Pork.  Take a look...and assuming you have no aversion to pork...How good does that look!!!  Well, if you decide to make this...take the warning about the peppers to heart.  They made my dish so spicy I have to find a way to cool it down before I eat my leftovers.  From what I could taste before the heat from the peppers took over, it tasted alright.  So, overall...not exactly a success, but not a complete failure...it is edible after all.

To go along with my pulled pork I decided to try another of her recipes...Buttered Rosemary Rolls.  I am here to tell you these are as easy and delicious as the look.  I made extras to eat the next day...yeah...between my tendency to snack while I study, the incredible mountain of homework I have to conquer, and the yummy-ness of these rolls, they were gone before I went to bed.

Summary: One only-okay dish and one home run.

Note: Next time I tried pulled pork there will be no peppers.  *smile*

Yours affectionately,
A.H.

Video of the Week

This week's video...a trailer.  Enjoy!

Reason's I really like this trailer.
1. I can totally attest to the learning-to-understand-an-intercom thing. - It really does help to hear it twice.
2. The song "Hey Soul Sister." - Great dancing in the rain song.
3. Tom Hanks riding a scooter. - I so want a scooter.
4. That Larry teaches them how to make French Toast.
5. The part where she makes eye contact with him.
6. Tom Hanks riding a vespa with a leather jacket. - Yes...they are that cool.
7. The scooter gang around 2:15. - I want to be part of one!
8. The part where he is dancing on her porch. - I would find that just as adorable as she did.

Yours affectionately,
A.H.

Week of Videos - Day 5

I am dedicating this video to my cousins Damion and Coralyn and my Aunt Melanie.  They visited last summer and we died laughing at this video.  We quoted it for the whole week they were here.  I saw it again and it made me think of them!  Hi Guys!!!

This blog post is now diamonds!!

Yours affectionately,
A.H.
